Ian Asvakovith, CPA
Managing Director
Ian Asvakovith is co-founder and managing director of Piedmont Fund Services. Prior to serving hedge fund and private equity clients, Ian assisted a $700 billion+ financial institution with financial accounting system implementation, integrated analytic tools, and business process improvement. Previously, he was an audit manager in the global asset management practice at Ernst & Young, LLP in New York, serving hedge funds, registered investment companies, and private equity clients. His past clients include some of the most recognizable names in the asset management industry such as Dreyfus Corporation, Warburg Pincus, UBS Global Asset Management, Kohlberg & Company, and GIC Real Estate. Ian has a strong knowledge of various investment products, including fixed income securities, mortgage backed securities, credit derivatives, equity swaps, interest rate swaps, and private placements. He has also been involved with over 300 funds audits while at Ernst & Young, LLP. Ian is a graduate of the University of California with a B.A. in Business Economics/Accounting and a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California.
Mina Ringler
Managing Director
Mina Ringler is co-founder and managing director of Piedmont Fund Services. She brings many years of experience in the hedge fund industry to Piedmont. Prior to co-founding Piedmont, Mina was with Chilton Investment Company, a New York based multi-strategy hedge fund complex with over $8 billion of assets under management, overseeing the fund accounting processes for domestic and offshore funds. Her areas of expertise include analysis of fund performance, investment partnership accounting, investor relationship management, and private placement accounting. Prior to joining Chilton, Mina was with the Asset Management practice of Ernst & Young, LLP focusing on audits of hedge funds, venture capital, and private equity funds in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her areas of expertise from the public accounting industry include valuation of financial instruments, investment partnership accounting for book and tax basis. Mina is a graduate of University of California with a B.A. in Business Economics/Accounting.
Angela To
Vice President
Angela brings strong experience in the asset management industry to Piedmont Fund Services. She is currently in charge of the fund accounting operation at our firm. Prior to joining Piedmont, Angela was a lead senior auditor at Ernst & Young, LLP in New York, serving flagship clients in the asset management practice such as Dreyfus Corporation, Warburg Pincus, AIG Highstar Capital, LP, and JLL Partners, Inc. Angela has dealt with complex financial instruments such as fixed income securities, credit default swaps, equity swaps, interest rate swaps, future contracts, and asset backed securities. She has also audited over 150 financial statements, both SEC and Non-SEC registered funds while working at Ernst & Young. Angela is a graduate of New York University/Leonard N. Stern School of Business with B.S. in Accounting and Finance.
Advisory Board Member
Richard Schecter, CPA
Mr. Schecter is a retired partner from Ernst & Young. He brings over 39 years of public accounting experience to Piedmont Fund Services. During his tenure at E&Y, he spent 27 years serving as a coordinating partner for financial services and investment management clients. He was also the Stamford Office Location Leader for E&Y and was responsible for building the asset management practice in the Fairfield County area to 100 professionals.
In addition to supervising the delivery of audit and assurance services, he has assisted many clients with structuring, strategy development, capital formation, mergers and acquisitions, transaction due diligence and offshore and cross border issues. He also spent three years as the New York Office partner in charge of human resources.
His past clients include domestic and offshore hedge and private equity funds, registered investments advisers and investment companies, venture capital primary and secondary funds, and fund of funds investment vehicles.
Mr. Schecter is a graduate of the University at Albany, was the first recipient of the Accounting Department outstanding alumni award, and has been a long-time member of the School of Business Advisory Board. Dick is a member of several professional organizations and has served on the boards of several charitable organizations, including the Center for Institutional Investment Management.
