Private Funds Leadership Dinner Reception at The Capital Grille

Event Overview

Piedmont hosted its Private Funds Leadership Dinner Reception on November 13, 2025, at The Capital Grille in Tysons Corner, Virginia, welcoming CFOs and COOs from private equity, venture capital, private credit, hedge funds, and institutional investors across the DC/VA/MD region and beyond. Designed as an intimate gathering for senior fund leaders, the evening encouraged open dialogue, meaningful peer connections, and the exchange of perspectives on the industry’s most pressing operational priorities.

Welcome Remarks

The program opened with remarks from Ian Asvakovith, CEO & President of Piedmont, who reflected on the firm’s 20‑year milestone and the evolution of the private funds industry since Piedmont’s founding in 2005. Ian highlighted the firm’s journey from its early beginnings—when private fund administration was still emerging—to become a trusted partner for managers navigating increasingly complex operational environments.

He emphasized that while technology continues to accelerate change across the industry, Piedmont’s greatest strength remains its people. The trust, collaboration, and ongoing feedback from clients have shaped the firm’s growth, and the dedication of Piedmont’s team has been central to delivering exceptional service over two decades.

Discussion Spotlight: Technology & AI in Fund Operations

A key theme of the evening centered on how Technology and AI are reshaping private fund operations. This session was moderated by Rajan Bhatia, Piedmont’s Technology Advisor, whose decades of experience in AI, automation, and digital transformation provided valuable context for the discussion.

Rajan not only shared his perspectives but also helped drive an engaging and interactive conversation, encouraging attendees to exchange views on the practical challenges and opportunities associated with adopting AI-enabled workflows. Topics included automation, data orchestration, process optimization, and how firms can prepare for next-generation operational models.

The dialogue highlighted both optimism and caution as leaders explored the realities of integrating advanced technologies into traditional manual environments.

Discussion Spotlight: Trends in the Private Credit Space

Another major focus of the evening was the continued evolution of the private credit market, one of the fastest-growing segments in private markets. Keith Hladek, President of Piedmont Credit Services, led this conversation, drawing from extensive experience from Harbinger Capital Partners, Silver Point, GoldenTree, and Oak Hill.

Keith helped drive a highly engaged discussion on what differentiates private credit from equity strategies, particularly the heavier operational lift, intricate accounting, complex data flows, and process discipline required to manage loan lifecycles, interest mechanics, covenants, restructurings, and amendments.

Attendees discussed the opportunities emerging in credit strategies, the surge in demand from institutional investors, and what managers must establish from day one to effectively operate in this increasingly complex space. The session underscored why private credit remains a central area of interest for both new entrants and seasoned managers.

Peer-to-Peer Insights

Beyond the structured discussions, the reception created a collaborative environment where leaders could share experiences, revisit ongoing initiatives, and reflect on the milestones shaping their organizations. Conversations ranged from regulatory considerations and year-end readiness to workflow optimization and long-term operational planning.

The open format allowed attendees to contribute insights, ask questions, and build connections with peers facing similar opportunities and challenges.

Closing Note

The Private Funds Leadership Dinner Reception exemplified Piedmont’s ongoing commitment to fostering community, conversation, and collaboration among private fund executives in the DC Metro region. We extend our sincere gratitude to all clients and friends who joined us for an evening of thoughtful dialogue and industry leadership.

We look forward to continuing these discussions and creating more opportunities for CFOs and COOs to connect with and exchange ideas in the months ahead.
